The Okhtyrka Teachers' Association was established in 1993. The Association manages the Okhtyrka Resource Center.
The Okhtyrka English Resource Center was registered and opened in 1994.

A group of English teachers from Sumska oblast, who trained 6 weeks at Siena College, Albany, New York, USA.
CENTER GOALS
The main goal of the Resource Center is to provide member teachers with materials to support new methods of teaching, to sponsor pedagogical workshops and teacher training courses, to organize seminars, debates, round-table discussions for teachers of English, and to help students prepare for lessons by providing them with source materials for projects and research papers.
CENTER SERVICES
The Center provides Association member teachers and their students with the following materials : textbooks, books on methodology, pedagogical materials, books for study and pleasure reading, audio and video cassettes, maps, encyclopedias, issues of the US newspaper “News for You”, American board games, and more.
The Center hosts workshops conducted by teacher-mythologists from Ukraine and the U.S.
The Center sponsors English language movie nights. Teachers and students have the opportunity to watch films in English. There are over 300 movies in the center's collection. These include educational films, feature films and cartoons.
Cooperation
The Ocktyrka Teachers' Association has close relations with Peace Corp in Ukraine. Three PC volunteers have worked with Association teachers and their students. They organized workshops for teachers, helped with after class activities, and parties. In addition, they also helped in the Summer English-Speaking Camp for students .
The Ochtyrka Teachers' Association is also a member of TESOL-Ukraine. Association representatives regularly attend and present papers at TESOL national meetings.
